Express Kafeh was developed by Serge Butman in 2011. Despite being a self-proclaimed coffee junky and having 20 years of experience as an Event Planner, it was his wife who sparked the idea. A high school principal in Montreal, she wanted to do something special and serve gourmet coffee for Teacher Appreciation week.
Serge searched and searched the entire island for a coffee-bar catering company and, to his surprise, none existed. Not wanting to disappoint his wife, he rented a commercial espresso machine, bought the best available coffee beans, hired a barista…and the teachers' event was such a success that a company was born.
The company quickly became the best mobile espresso bar in Canada and was even hired to service Tim Hortons- yes, Canada's famous coffee chain - at their annual gala appreciation event in 2013!

Express Kafeh started operating in 2011. It was founded by Serge Butman, who serves as the company's president. Serge is a graduate of Concordia University, which is located in the city of Montreal in Quebec, Canada. He boasts of two decades of experience as an event planner.
Serge actually credits his wife Shireen for the idea of starting up Express Kafeh. As a principal of a school in Montreal, she wanted to serve gourmet coffee for Teacher Appreciation Week. She needed a coffee bar to be set up at the school. Alas, Serge realized that no catering company offered such a service.
Serge ended up renting a commercial espresso machine. He then had to buy specialized coffee beans. Next, he hired a barista. His ingenious solution was such a success. He figured that a mobile coffee bar service was something that could grow into a viable business.
